Hi,
I have a lot of information on this family and descend from JOHN CRAMPTON who was born illegitimately in 1840 to ANN COOPER.
He went on to become Mayor of Mansfield in 1903.
Willing to share info.

In my research I have John CRAMPTONS mother as Ann CRAMPTON. She went on to marry John ULYET. Can share the info if required.

Hi DavidLane,
I should have noticed my mistake before I posted the message - of course you are right and John's mother was Ann Crampton.
I have info on the family back to Richard Crampton c. abt 1626 if you are interested.
I have also recently found out that Ann nee Crampton and John Ullyet had children. I wonder if John Ullyet was John Crampton's father?
Look forward to hearing from you.

Ferret1, Thanks for your prompt reply I think the CRAMPTON's going back to the 1600's would be great to see, I only go back a couple of generations. However I have John CRAMPTON's line through Sidney down to myself. If you are interested.
Cheers from David in West Oz where the weather is hot and the beer is cold, very cold

Hi DavidLane,
You must descend from either Sidney Sharpe, Edward Gretorex or Emma then?
I descend from their aunt Nellie.
I will send you the info this weekend, I also have pictures of John when he was Mayor of Mansfiled, which I will try to get on my digital camera and send to you.
I'll do this off line, to your personal e-mail, if that's okay?
If anyone else is interested in the info, please let me know and I'll gladly share.

Does anyone happen to have a George Crampton b. 1848 in their tree, as he states he came from Nottinghamshire but I am not having much luck in tracing this guy.
thanks

Hi Lesley369
I have a George Crampton in my tree, but don't have a dob.
However his siblings are born between 1836 and 1859. His parents are Rueben Crampton and Sarah Curzon. Rueben was born in Kelham, Nottinghamshire.
Have other info if you would like it - what more do you have?

Hi again
Sorry for not getting back sooner, forgot I had put a message on rootschat. What I do have is a complete mystery. His death certificate states that he would have been born around 1848, the census records state numerous areas, but the one that crops up the most is Notts. His occupation stated Navvy which I would assume meant he worked on the roads, I was always under the assumption that it was the Irish who came over to build the roads. I know that he married an Emma Coleman as I have his sons birth certificate and she is stated on that, but I cannot locate a marriage certificate which would then give me his fathers name. I am turning into a geneology recluse because of this.

I also should have said Ferret1 that his first child was named Sarah.....could this be a link...I have no clue.

Hi Ferrit. I'm just getting back into this after many years away. I cannot remember if we chatted in the past about Cramptons. I am also related to John Crampton mayor of Mansfield. Intrigued with the info you have.

Castledine. Doreen Crampton is my great aunt, she was my grandad Williams sister. I have info if you care to message me.
Ferret1, that wouldn't be Nellie Cunningham (Hall) would it?
