Hi,
I am researching the surname of CHILTON in Nottinghamshire.
I have got back to JOHN CHILTON / CHELTON who married ELIZABETH KENNEY in 1755.
Any information to share greatfully received.

Dear Ferret1,
I was interested to read your RootsChat.com notice advising you are researching the surname of CHILTON in Nottinghamshire.
In researching my own ancestral tree I have found one of my great great grandmothers to be Ann CHILTON born in Balderton, Newark, Nottinghamshire on 6th July 1842.
Her birth certificate indicates her parents to be John CHILTON and Mary CHILTON (nee FREEMAN), presumably both born in the Balderton area sometime around the early 1800s.
As it sounds as if your research in this area may be far in advance of my own, can you please advise if you are able to provide any additional information about John & Mary CHILTON and their ancestors.
With many thanks,
Sweetpop1

By strange coincidence I discovered a small link to the Chiltons of Balderton only yesterday (it also happens to be the village where I live!).
I have a John Burdon who married Elizabeth Chilton in Balderton in 1832, Elizabeth born c. 1809
Welcome to Rootschat Sweetpop1 :) Here is your Ann in 1851

Hi
I'm afraid I don't have Ann Chilton b. 1842 in my family tree - my Chilton's stop with Ann b. 1820, who was my 3x great grandmother.
Neither do I have Elizabeth born c. 1809 - although I do have Elizabeth born 1786.
Perhaps both these people are descended from the same family as mine but I haven't really done much research into them so can't be sure.
