Hello all.
My great-grandfather was Charles E Markham and, with his brother Herbert, he started a hosiery factory in Leicester in about 1915 called "Markham Bros". They seemed to have developed a brand name "Revolwelt" and, in the late 1920s, had a factory at Briton Street & Western Road. I believe the business went bust in about 1934 due to the economic slump of the times.
Can anyone help me learn any more about the business, or even identify where I could look?
I imagine clippings from Leicester newspapers would be very useful, especially for the 1934 period to see what it said about them when they closed. However I am living in Dublin, Ireland, so I will have to plan a trip over somewhere to look those up - unless they are available online?
Any help or pointers to online or offline sources would be very welcome.
Thanks,
Mark.
