Title: MORRIS marriage, Bury abt 1833
Post by: javajune on Monday 13 April 09 20:50 BST (UK)
William Morris was born about 1811 in Bury according to 1841,51,61,71, censuses.  I've looked at all the resources I can think of and cannot find a record of his birth which would tell me who is parents were.

As I live in Canada, I would really appreciate a lookup for his birth record and hopefully for his marriage record.

Also, I know his wife's name is Hannah (possibly TURNER) from an IGI record I found.

I have searched LancashireBMD, LancashireOPC and the IGI and have been unable to find him.

Hi Janet

Somebody may be able to look up the marriage for you to see if there is any additional info. such as witnesses names.   Fathers names were not shown on marriage entries prior to 1st July 1837 when Civil Registration was introduced

WILLIAM MORRIS   Spouse:  HANNAH TURNER
Marriage:  15 APR 1833   Saint Mary Bury

Hi Janet

The IGI shows a William Morris b.18/6/1810, bp.22/7/1810 St. Mary, Bury, Lancs. son of Robert and Ann - surely this must be him?   (The only one born in Bury between 1808-1812).

Hi Carole and Annette:

Thank you or your responses to my post.  This seems to agree with what I have been told since yesterday.
Apparently, the marriage is on a fiche and I am waiting for confirmation of the witnesses names.
The IGI record looks very good, I guess I just have to confirm this with a parish register lookup.   Or is there another avenue?

Does this mean that somebody is doing the lookup for you

Hi Carole:

NO, this does not mean that somebody is doing the lookup for me.  I am trying to help a friend who is a newbie to genealogy and who tried to find the info. herself.  Unfortunately, it turned out to be a false lead.
