You may have searched the Index to Irish civil registrations at the LDS site- it is showing only 4 Withrow registrations but none for Withroe
 http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=0
If you haven't got them already certs can be ordered by sending reference nos to www.groireland.ie
Hope this is of use.

You obviously have these, just pointing out the spelling...an extracted IGI file for William's birth , dates as noted, has her as Judith "Withero"  ;D

and more
MARY DOYLE b. May 29  1864 - 0540, Cashel, Tipperary, Ireland
Richard DOYLE b. Mar 5  1869
both have parents as John DOYLE & Judith WIDROW  ;D

Thank you so much. I will continue to check Family Search. I did find Richard and Mary there, with Judith as Widrow, I have seen her as Withers, Withero and my G Grandmothers obit said Withroe - another mystery to uncover. Although I have been told "th" is pronounced "d" in gaelic and that could account for variation.
Thanks again,
Maureen

I remember being in Clogher cemetery ( between Holycross and Clonoulty) up on the hill and there is at least one old Witheroe/Witherow grave there. Jim (as far as I remember) Witherow used to sell and fill  fire extinguishers a few years ago and should still be around Thurles.
Regards.

I am a great granddaughter of John Doyle and Johanna Withrow.  My grandfather was the William Doyle you list.  My father was Francis Withrow Doyle.  On a trip to Cashel to look up my grandfather William's place of birth, I got William's birth record and the info about his siblings from the Irish Genealogy Center in Cashel.  That was the extent of my information until I saw your post.

Around 1890 William emigrated to the US (Boston) with his sister Kate, who married a man named Welch.  William married Catherine Hickey from Ballydehob (West Cork) whom he met in Boston.  They had 8 children, 6 boys, 2 girls.  He died in 1949.

My maiden name was Janet Doyle.  If your GG grandmother was my G grandmother, we must be 2nd cousins once removed.  My Doyle relatives mostly live in Massachusetts.

I have wondered about the prior history.  Doyle was an unusual name in Cashel and Withrow is an unusual name, period.  I heard from my father's sister that one of her Cashel uncles went to England and worked as a reporter.

How exciting. Yes, we are cousins. I am Catherine Doyle Robinson's Great granddaughter. My great grandfather George Robinson ( not Welch, he was a compositor, or printer) immigrated to (Dorchester) Boston in 1886, in 1889 his wife Kate Doyle Robinson and 3 year old son John followed and a year later, Kate's brother William came and lived with them. My Mom is with me for the Holiday and so excited about this connection. She was very close to her Uncle Billy ( your grandfather). I know that William's family settled in Dorchester. In 1902 Kate and George moved from Dorchester to Brockton, that's where I grew up. My Mom (Mary Reardon Fay b. 1920) stayed in touch with Dick and Evelyn for many years. As children she was closer to Bobby, who died in the war 1945. Kates daughter Agnes Robinson Reardon was my grandmother.
Catherine( Kate) died in 1940. Kate & William's brother Richard was in the military and lived in Devon, England. (I have had a few emails with one of his decendants who is on Ancestry.com. )
Sometime around 1884-1885 the Doyle family moved to Waterford. This is where Kate married George. Their sister Mary married Patrick Power.( The husband of a decendant of Mary's is on Ancestry too. I had a few communications from him. )GGgrandfather John died in 1884. Johanna lived with Mary in Waterford, until she died in 1914.
I had very little information on Francis, my mother recalls that Catherine, entered the convent?  I guess we will be able to fill in some blanks for each other.
My direct email is * I still live in Massachusetts. I will send you an invite to see my Ancestry tree when I have your email.  Merry Christmas. Best Maureen
