Title: Susannah BOLTON 1837 Wimbourne, Dorset
Post by: suzanne2812 on Monday 13 April 09 10:54 BST (UK)
HI All

I wonder if anyone can help.

My great (x3) grandmother Elizabeth Unwin had a brother who married a lady called Sarah Bolton b1837 in Wimbourne. I have traced her back to 1841 where she & her 4 siblings are living in the workhouse with their grandmother Mary Boulton b1791 (d 1846) out of county. I have looked further & the elder three siblings were also born out of county. However Susannah wasn't. I'm looking to see if anyone can find anything on her or who her parents were. Her name was also listed as Susan but that isn't odd (as my name gets spelt as Susan all the time!)

Her siblings were
Amelia Bolton b1831
Jane Bolton b1833
William Bolton b1835.

William is the only one I can trace & he married Marina ? in Bridport 1854.

I know it's a bit of a long shot. She eventually married James Unwin in 1858 Portsea. A strange thing is that in the 1881 census she's refering to herself as Jessie Emma before reverting to Susannah for the 1891 census.

All help appreciated.

Regards Suzanne

Hi Suzanne,

Have you looked for Susannah on  the OPC site for Dorset?

          www.opcdorset.com

You can search by parish or a general "name" search.

Wimborne Minster is the main parish but there is also Wimborne St Giles and Wimborne All Saints.

A copy of her marriage certificate should show the name and occupation of her fatrher.

Suzanne

Mail this to me on on dorset.opc[at]googlemail.com and I will forward this to a couple of people who can check for you. Tesca has some records that aren't online but also have a couple other options... Wimborne is a bit all over at the moment as I suddenly have three people who want to work on it, so we are still figuring who is going to do what.

NOTE TO MODERATORS - this is the main contact address on the OPC at the moment so is ok to stay public... did I tell you that before? Goldfish memory LOL

HTH
