I've just come across a brilliant point of reference.
It is mostly Stirlingshire but also covers much of Lanarkshire, East Dunbartonshire, Clackmannanshire, Berwickshire and Glasgow too.
For a small fee, it is possible to get an index of stones in the cemeteries below, ideal for libraries and Family History Societies.
However, if you know specifically who you are looking for, and that the person is definitely in a particular cemetery, they will do a free search of the indices for you.

For a fiver (5GBP), I got a full set of photos of a stone in Larbert plus a transcript of the MI. Brilliant! Quality photos too - see below.
Well worth contacting.

Hi folks.
Following on from previous post, memento-mori have now produced a brilliant site with searchable indices of the various cemeteries.

Hi Dave. :)
Thank you for posting the link to the Cemeteries.
Found some in Cumbernauld.
Much appreciated.

Brilliant Sandy. Glad you got a result. Are you applying for the photos? Would be great to hear if you are as pleased as I am.
Dave
PS Just nipping down to the shop for the Telegraph. Looking forward to the article on the Italian campaign.

Not sure as not my tree, it's my friend's. :)
I have just sent her the link and asked her to play. :)
Enjoy the article.

Just an update Dave. :)
My friend sent for one we knew to be hers, and got a word doc of the
stone transcription and where the grave was in the Churchyard,
also a picture of the Church.
The Gravesone itself she received 5 photographs off.
Brilliant for £5.00. :)

Excellent result Sandy.

Have to agree, Brilliant!!! I found some people that I wasn't even looking for, where I really didn't expect them to be.
Dave, just as an aside, did I ever ask you if you have any ladies in your Forrest tree with the unusual first name of Veir?

Brilliant Lindsay, Glad the site helped you.
Did you just pinch the info, or are you going for the photos too?
I'm not sure about copyright issues but I'd love to see some of the results posted here just to emphasise how good the results are. I must contact the site owners and ask whether it's OK.
As for Veir Forrest, I'll PM you.

Having had a previous brilliant success I`ve just ordered two more - twice! Both emails have been returned to me :( as
5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'<info@momento-mori.co.uk>: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual mailbox table'
anyone know whats happened ????
Thanks

Mitch, try info[at][/blue]memento-mori.co.uk not momento as you wrote below.

Thanks Lindsay,
The address I quoted is what it feeds to when you click `contact us` on their site - so there is obviously a fault somewhere.
Many thanks

You're right Mitch, there was a fault but it has now been corrected.
The link on the site should now be working.

This looks like a great site but I just wanted to make you aware that not all graves are listed.
I had a look at Alva Cemetery to see if my Fyfe's were there and unfortunately they were not. I know the family gravestone, which gives details of numerous deaths,is there. I photographed it 3 years ago.
I also had a look for 'The Malcolms', another gravestone I photographed, and it wasn't there either.
Both of these gravestones are in the older part of the cemetery which, though locked, the groundsman was happy to open for me. Perhaps this is the reason they're missing.

Hi Christine.
It's a good point but in my original post, and on the .pdf files within the site, the site owners have indicated ...
"Those locations marked * are complete and include every legible stone."
Alva is one of those not marked with an "*"
The site owners are willing to check for stones not listed in the incomplete cemeteries / churchyards.

Hi Dave,
Missed that bit. Must pay more attention.

Just wondering whether anyone else has had any success with this?
-
Anyone know if memento-mori is temporarily offline or is this a long term problem ( or is it just me jinxing the site). :(
Thanks Mitch
-
Hi Mitch,
I emailed momento-mori and was told the site is being updated, so hopefully they will be back up and running soon. So hang in there! :)
-
Like Lenagh, I contacted memento-more and got the following reply......
"We’re doing a bit of updating this weekend and as usual – nothing’s ever straightforward. The site is being transferred from one ISP to another and has vanished somewhere in between. Hopefully this wee glitch will be sorted out a.s.a.p. (well, I hope it will!!)"
Dave

Thanks for that. I hadn`t visited the site for a few weeks and had wondered if it had been moved or something!
Thanks

Good news!! http://www.memento-mori.co.uk./ is back up and running.
Have fun finding those rellies! :)

Just been on http://www.memento-mori.co.uk./ the site hasn't been updated yet, but at least the old site is back. Looking forward to seeing what's new.

Hi folks.
Glad to say that http://www.memento-mori.co.uk/ has been updated again.
Worth another look.

I've just been sent a list from http://www.memento-mori.co.uk
giving me details of every stone they have come across with one of my main family lines on them.
Amazing service. I just need to sort which ones are actually directly related to me.
I can't fault this site for service and value for money.

Hi Ann,
The point of this thread is to point people in the direction of a particular resource - http://www.memento-mori.co.uk
You might do well to have a look at that site, but I also suggest you re-post your query on the main Stirlingshire board....
Go here and click on 'New Topic' ....

I was wondering if anyone knows who owned/created memento-mori.co.uk? I believe they have passed away, but I'd like to get in touch with their family, if possible.
