Hello John,
In answer to your query, I am the Great Grandson of Jacob Field who lived at Rowley Farm House and was Farmer and Butcher in Ticechurst Sussex.
-
Hello ROWES,
Thank you for your reply.
I am connected to the Field family through Lois Ann Funnell who married Jacob Field c1867.
The mother of Lois Ann Funnell was a Wallis from the Lamberhurst/Ticehurst area.
My direct maternal line is this Wallis family.
My 3xGrandparents were John Wallis/Ann Austin who had Emily Wallis who married James Funnell in 1833. Their daughter married Jacob Field and as far as I know had 7 Children.
If you post 3 messages on this site I am able to contact you through a Personal Message (PM) offsite, so could I ask you to reply to me twice more (just a quick reply will do, just send it twice) and then I can send some info to you offsite.
Best regards,
John

Hello Simon,
Nice to meet you, I see where you fit into the Field family.
I have seen some photos of the Field family of Butchers in Ticehurst, if you have not seen them I can send a copy on to you if you would like.
Jacob does appear to have been a rather industrious and productive chap in the villiage, Inn Keeper at the Duke of York and later at another if my memory serves me correctly.
I must go and brush up on the Field family and come back with some questions if I may.
Regards,
John Wallis Bell

Thanks John, It would be good to see some photos. I did visit the Butchers shop in Ticehurst to visit relatives still living in there when I was about 6 years old in about 1964. I dont know who has the premises now, possibly still my relatives ? I rememer vividly a very large and very worn stone step between one room and another, the area where the animals were slaughtered, and the shop counter area.
Kind Regards Simon

Hi John,
I have just found this site after putting in my maiden name Field and Ticehurst in Google search. I have recently started looking for my family tree.
I am related to Clarence Field (b 1854) who was my great grandad and have managed to trace the Field line back to 1740 but would love to know more and see some pictures of the family. I do have one picture of Clarence with his son Ernest, my granddad, and my dad.
I hope you see this post even though you put it on ages ago. Unfortunately I can't PM you until I have posted three posts.
It seems that Simon Rowe is not active on this site anymore but I'm hoping that you have remained in contact with him as he is also a distant relative.
Thanks
Sallie

Hello John and all the other Field Searchers,
My name is Paul William Mower the son of May Florence Mower nee Field.of Battersea, London.
My Grandfather was John Thomas Field also of Battersea.
My Great Grandfather was Benjamin Field born 1853 in Ticehurst, Sussex.
The William born 1818 in your record is the brother of My Great Great Grandfather, Samuel born 1814 in Ticehurst.
From this point we are linked through the pedigree to Thomas Field, farmer of ( Lower Hazelhurst Farm,Ticehurst aka the Quarter), born 1773 in Wadhurst, Sussex and his wife Elizabeth Burges born 1784 also in Wadhurst.
The final link is Joseph Field born C1740 and his wife Martha Baker born C1740. That's as far as I can go!
From one Field distant cousin to another!
All the best in your quest!
Kind regards, Paul from Telford, Shropshire, U.K.

Hi Paul,
Welcome to the Field search. You have got as far back as I have, Joseph Field (b 1740). It would be great to go back further but I have the inconvenience of a full time job which just seems to take up all my time unfortunately ;)
My link to you is William Field (b 1880) who is the father to my great grandfather Clarence (b 1854) He went on to have 9 children (7 surviving), one being my grandfather Ernest.
I am friends with another distant relation who I met through an RAF kids page on FaceBook. Her mothers name was the same as ours and they had also been to the same overseas postings as us. She mentioned that her family orginated from Ticehurst and that is where we made the connection. Her great grandfather is Jacob Field (b 1844) another son of William.
Please keep us updated if you manage to get any further than 1740. One day I will find the time!
Kind regards
Sallie
