Can anyone tell me the date taken. Is  he a military man or from a circus as a trapeze artist he is wearing a medal on his chest.
Arthur Maycock  Parkgate Cheshire
Some of my ancestors came from Little Neston Birch family
Hi - my thoughts are that this is a clearly posed shot in a photographic studio (see backdrop) and that he might be an athlete or if not - the medal could be from a 'games' win, etc, rather than a military medal!  He's clearly dressed as an athlete or performer - if he was military then he would IMHO definitely be wearing his best dress uniform.  Also the coloured cummerband might hint at a victor's 'badge of honour'?  Hope this helps?  Am brand new to this forum as I need my own help but quite experienced researcher into my Family History.  If I can help further plse let me know.  Best wishes - Jonathan B

As Jon has said not a military medal. Olympic perhaps.
This looks like a stock photo.
Possibly a gymnast rather than trapeze artist as I would expect
him to be dressed a bit more showy than this if he was.
