Hi,
I'm researching greaves in derbyshire, staffordshire. Who is the ancestor you are looking at/for?

If you check out my website www.greaves.ca you will see everything...essentially my John Greaves (Great x 4 grandfather) was married in Newark in 1799 and died there in 1830. It appears that he was born in Repton to a John and Dorothy Greaves. I also had information passed to my by a great aunt that our family was the Greaves of Buxton..although have no ide where that came from.

Hi Julier,
That is fortunate for you as there is so much written. I have not given up that I may be related to that family..As in the genealogy there is mention of members from Repton. In addition I recently communicated with a descendant of George Greaves (bap in 1790 to John and Dorothy) and this descendant said that a great Aunt told her that the eldest son of a wealthy Derby Greaves family ran off with the third house maid...and was subsequently taken out of the family inheritance..so I have not been able to track that down yet. As you know the Beeley family was well-to-do. If you hear of any son running off with a maid I would appreciate the information. I assume it would have been in the 1700s some time.
