Title: 1911 census ...
Post by: GeoffE on Tuesday 07 April 09 23:10 BST (UK)
... for Cumberland has arrived at  http://www.1911census.co.uk

Please don't expect lookups - it costs money - but it's there.

So I now discover that my Grandad's family had been in Bolton, Lancs for a few years, I needn't have waited for Cumberland at all :(

Fancy, he was a Cotton Doffer and I thought he was a Coal Miner!

Hi Goeff

Ooh , that must be infuriating!  I've been playing on my own family in Lancashire from the start, but I keep thinking I can doo lookups for my adopted families in Cumbria - so now I can!

Thank you Goeff.

Hi Geoff.

Following your link for the Cumberland 1911 Census I tried to find some family information, being unable to succeed  I requested some which know to be 100%
correct, Unsuccessful again. I then find out Cumberland,Westmorland and Northumberland are the three England counties not yet available.

Hi

It's on now though,

I've had a few positive results.  I just have to save up for the images!

I must admit though, the results I got and the searches I did, didn't sem to work together properly.  A couple of searches when I tried to narrow down came out negative, when searchwes I'd already done implied they would be positive - sorry, a bit long winded"!

Good luck!

from the 1911 site BLOG:-

All English counties now complete

April 8th, 2009
Overnight, we have uploaded records for the remaining English Counties (Northumberland, Cumberland, Westmorland) and added the missing Gateshead district records into the county of Durham (they were incorrectly listed as part of Northumberland - this is now fixed and they are searchable under Durham, as they should be).

Therefore all English counties are now complete.

Scanning of Welsh records is well underway and we are working on the transcriptions of the first batch of Welsh counties, which will be the next data release. Although we do not have a precise release date for them yet, we anticipate that we will have some data from Wales available in the next 4 to 6 weeks.

Perhaps the old version of the search page is still in your computer cache - try refreshing using Ctrl-F5

I spent a while last evening searching and downloading Cumberland and Northumberland stuff, so I know it's there.

Thank you LKL and Geoff.

Don't know what I am doing wrong, have tried clearing the cache but I am still getting
the same message, no information found and it is also still showing - Not all counties
 are complete  which includes Cumberland.

  Puzzled,   Ayess

most odd - I can clearly see all English counties on the drop-down menu ...

I'd have wondered about the cache too - which Browser are you using ?

Using Internet Explorer 8, cleared the cache again, still no luck.

On the drop down menu those final three english counties are still shown as unavailable

Perhaps someone on the Technical Help board can give useful advice http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,285.0.html

Try it without selecting a county - just put the town/village name in the "Place of Residence" box.

so you deffo have an old page .......

please paste in the url you see on the IE8 address bar ......

do you get automatically logged in every time via a Cookie ?

what 'options' under Tools do you have in IE8 compared to earlier versions to manipulate the cache ?

eg:- refresh every time you visit a page, automatically etc.

Can you effectively totally delete/refresh the cache (and Cookies) by moving it ?

Do you have an older version of IE to try - or perhaps download and try FireFox (Mozilla)

 :)
