Not in 1851 Bethnal Green or Whiechapel.

There are Saward families in the surname only index for St George in the East HO 107/1548 folio 121
HO 107/1547 folio 228

Or Seaward families at HO 107/1533 folios 123, 196

Hopefully Someone will look at these references to see if your John is there

I have a John Seward, born sometime around 1850, maybe in the London environs, he married an Elizabeth. They were my Great, Great, grandparents. They had a son named Edward Seward, and maybe others, I am rather new to this stuff, so, details are a bit sketchy. The Edward Seward from above, is obviously my Great grandfather, on some birth/marriage certificates he gives Hythe. Kent as his birthplace, I have proven that he was actually born in the Bethnall Green workhouse, he may have been ashamed of his roots, but the workhouse was the only form of midwifery available, so sensibility was uppermost in fact....
Maybe this could help us both..
