Title: How do I send a message to a post that I now can't find?
Post by: Fay DElmaine on Monday 06 April 09 14:13 BST (UK)
I found a post from Tuesday 21st November 2006. Title: Christchurch archives lookup please, by Frank Leng.
This person was looking for a relative of mine, and I've just started looking, and was very excited to see the posting.
The post has been sent to 'completed', by KiwiBrennan on Monday 10th November 08.
I would like to reply to the person who posted; but can't seem to make it all work. Can someone help, please?
Fay

Hi

At the top of the page, right in the centre there is a box named Search Rootschat. Click on that, then enter the details in the appropriate boxes of the search page. It should come up with the answer for you.

Regards,

Jen

On the thread in question, left hand side with the poster Frank Leng profile info, click the small green scroll, you will be able to send him a message - BUT ONLY after you have 3 posts clocked up.

You can also just post on the thread itself, and hopefully he will be alerted.

Thank you GenJen, MaryA and LKL. I am not new to computers, but certainly new to this kind of use of them. I have great respect for your abilities to get around the vagaries of all of this. I hope I haven't infringed any of the nettiquette in the process of my blundering.
So, do I now wait and hope that my post will get to its destination, and that Frank Leng will reply? Ohh the agony of waiting.
Thanks again,
Fay

You are asking questions which many of us have asked at one time or another so don't worry about that at all.

You have now made three posts on the boards so you can send Frank Leng a Personal Message, as LKL said. That might get a speedier response.

Good luck,

Jen

Lets hope he's still linked to the site - last online in Sept, 2007  :(

Thank you all. I'm on a roll now. Just waiting for a reply, and searching in the meantime, with the usual varieties of success. Amazing that so much is now on the net - even the Australian electoral rolls. Unfortunately our laws prohibit the publishing of census data, still. There were moves afoot to allow publication. any news on that front?
So, thanks once again for getting me started. I hope I can return the help to some other newbie at some stage. Off to bed now!
