Hello Everyone
I am trying desperately to determine an exact townland for my Derry ancestors- James, Patrick and Rose McShane,( prob Slaghtmanus) They were from Londonderry and their parents were Patrick McShane and Rose Carlin. The birthdates of Patk,James and Rose were 1818-1827
All emigrated to Malden Massachusetts. -the boys through New York- Rose b 1818 married James Heggarty in Londonderry and came to Malden upon the death of her husband James. Hegarty She emigrated with her two sons John and Patrick Hegarty. Supposedly, there were other McShanes who emigrated to Philadelphia- yet unsubstantiated
My gggrandmother was also from Derry- Rebecca Jane Hughes who married James McShane. Her parents were William and Isabella Carruthers Hughes (Derry)and she had a brother David Hughes b. 1837 who spent some time in the US 1850-1880 but I lose him after that
Does anyone have any information that might corroborate this family saga- I am leaving for Salt Lake City in September and would love some concrete information to research
Thank you all

Thank you so much for the picture of Slaghtmanus. How fortunate you are to have been born in such a
beautiful area. Are you aware of any old cemeteries in the vicinity? I was hoping for some McShane/Carlin or Hughes inscriptions.

Hi Libbyg there is a RC Graveyard near Slaghtmanus which used to have a RC Church, now demolished called Mullaboy I will take a drive out there and check for McShanes/Carlins
and take details and maybe pictures of any gravestones
watch this space
