Looking for birth of a William Crichton abt 1829. Parents are William Crichton and Elizabeth McFarlane.
I have found them in the 1841 Barony census but can not find birth records for William 1829 or his brother John born abt 1834. William Crichton the father was a H.L.W. in Calton.
Also looking for the father's death record sometime between 1841 and 1851.
Thanks so much for any info that is provided.

Hi Janice,
Yes, I have all this information, and I think that this is the family. But I think that this William might have died and they reused the name. From all records/census my William was born 1829 and his brother born 1833/34.
I don't know if there is a reason for their births not being recorded but I can not find them anywhere.
Thanks so much for your efforts.

I checked Scotlands People, and found only 4 William's using "Soundex", who died in Lanark. None were in Barony. Also there were none with the exact spelling.

Thanks again! I just don't understand why there are no records for them.

I have a few family members that I can't find either. Possibly the transcriptions are way off.
