Reverend Hamilton Paul was born in Dailly, around 1773. He died in 1854, in Peebleshire, where he was the minister of three parishes, Glenholme, Broughton, and Kilbucho. I cannot find out whether he was married, married with children, or remained single. He was editor of the Ayr Advertiser until 1816, and helped set up the first Burn's suppers, so may have been a friend of the poet. Can anyone help, please?

Hi
The 1851 Census for Broughton Parish in Peebleshire is on FREECEN.
It shows the Rev. as unmarried.

The 1841 Census is also there, same place - and while this census stated neither marital status nor relationships, possibly the Montgomery PAUL in the household is his older brother.

Thanks Ambly,
That was very helpful. Also knowing about a possible elder brother - I knew he had a sister, but not a brother. Cheers, Pepinou.
