Hi ,
1861 census Eckington,Joseph age 17 is a lodger in the Barker household, working as miner?
RG9.2534.64.page 25.

Thanks hepburn.
If he was a lodger, it looks as if the rest of the family did not survive the Workhouse. How do I find out more about The Workhouse ?? any ideas?

Eckington registers on my website www.ridgeway.org.uk you may find something useful on there.

Some of the Admissions and Discharges registers for the Chesterfield workhouse still exist in the Derbyshire Records Office at Matlock. I don't know whether they cover the period you are interested in. They might tell you whether they left the workhouse and when.
