I can't answer specifically.
However, SP has recently published some pre 1855 OPR records for deaths and burials.
You might have some luck searching there. - see later response.

I refer to my earlier reply and the one on your other post* re this couple's marriage.

I searched deaths on SP using wildcards as suggested.

Surname: m*cfarl*"
Use Soundex: Off
Forename: m
Sex: "Both"
Date From: 01 January 1814  To: 31 December 1854
County: STIRLING

This gives 22 results, 4 of which are in Buchanan, 2 each for Malcolms and Marys.

It's lucky in this case that both of them have the same initials.

Hope these are your folk and you see what I mean about using wildcards and getting more results for your 1 credit search. (if, perchance, the records in Buchanan are not the correct ones, you would not need to use further credits looking elsewhere in Stirlingshire, you already have the index).

According to Mitchells' pre-1855 MI Book (West Stirlingshire):

Broken Stone
.....? McFarlane aged 84
Wife Mary McGown died 16th October 1835 aged (78?)
Son John died 26th May 1842 aged 19
Son Malcolm died September 1881 aged 35
Grand-daughter Mary Anderson died 12th March 1854 aged 12

The survey of the Inchcailleach Churchyard was done in July 1969.

There are a few other McFarlanes there too so if you want their details - just ask!  ;D

There are a number of possible births for Malco(l)m McFarlan(e)in Buchanan around the right era on IGI and on SP.

There is one in particular that might be likely given the childrens names -
Malcom McFarlan b24/2/1791 in Buchanan to John McFarlan and Cathrine Monrow.

Happy New Year to all our readers!
Yes, it's me again and still confused. I can hear Jean and Anne sighing from here :)
I have a death cert dated 1906 for Agnes Haggart, (aged "about 94 years") widow of John Hunter and Peter Haggart. (see attached)
The interesting bit is that her parents are listed as John McFarlane and Agnes McGown (the McGowan is very difficult to decipher but I believe that to be what is written). I wonder where Malcolm and Mary have gone?
Given her marriage history it cannot be a different lady so where have I drifted to on this one?!?!?
As usual any help would be appreciated.

I guess I am a Hunter, not a Haggart.
According to my tree Agnes Hunter/Haggart was my gggrandmother
Mary Hunter was my ggrandmother
Agnes McNab was my grandmother
Norman Aitken was my father
I'm not sure if this will help with my problem!!
