Hi I am interested in tracing information...birth, marriage of Edward McMaster. or indeed any leads. I know he lived at Irish Cottages Coleraine in early 1900's but have no further information.. Can you help?
-
Hi,
Have you any further details? I can find an Edward Sturdy McMaster who married in 1910 in Larne. and can also find a couple of others which are earlier also in Co.Antrim.
Regards

Can't see any marriage or death for an Edward McMaster in Coleraine registration district (although index only goes up to 1921 for Northern Ireland).

There were cottages on what would have been outskirts of Coleraine called Irish Houses (on Institution Road opposite present Wheatsheaf Road).
There are lots of McMasters in Coleraine area but Edward isn't a common name in any of the families I've traced.
The Ulster Covenant (1912) shows only 2 Edward McMasters- one at Ballycannon, Macosquin (just outside Coleraine) and Edward S. McMaster at Ballycarry, Whitehead (possibly the Edward Sturdy McMaster who married 1910 in Larne district).

Hi ,
Still trying to trace any leads on Edward McMaster known as "Ned". small amounts of information coming through... He is apparently buried at Killowen Graveyard... possibly 1940's I think this is in Coleraine somewhere. and did live at Macosquin at one point. so he may be the one referred to signing the Ulster Covenant.

Were the McMasters Church of Ireland? There's burying-ground at Killowen Parish Church.

Coleraine Library and PRONI both have the following on 1 microfilm reel:
Killowen Parish Church
vol 1: bapt1824-1841; marr 1824-1831; burials 1825-1830
vol 2: bapt 1824-1843; marr 1824-1843
vol 3: bapt 1843-1857; confirmations 1844, 1849, 1855
vol 4: marr 1843-1845
vol 5: burials 1843-1881, 1893-1901
vol 6: bapt 1857-1869
Not 100% sure but think some of it might be difficult to read
Anything more recent would be in local custody

Hi Aghadowey,
just getting back to my research as I've been away for quite a while....Edward(Ned )McMaster did live at Macosquin before the Irish Cottages. I have traced his burial place to Killowen church just left inside the front gates...unfortunately it is unmarked so will have to trace that through church records I presume.. haven't even got the death year ! Whose picture is showing in your mail,, much too young for Ned but I'm curious.
Thanks
Megbe.

Aghadowey,
I’ve gone through the old post you have and it’s all connecting to the person I know as Edward McMaster definitely called Ned by people who knew him but didn’t have any history.
I’m certain he was married twice but one marriage produce no children. Am I to understand that dates aren’t always exact as in one census age can be a few years out from the following census.
In danger of tying myself in knots here 😀
Intrigued by your ref to knowledge of further McMasters. Would be interested to peruse that if allowed and possible.
Many thanks for all your help.

Have just replied on your topic.
Ages in census records, or even other records, aren't always accurate but we do have dates for Edward's birth, marriage, etc.
