???I HAVE HIT A BLOCK! Would some kind person do a search on my behalf, Please?
Jonathan PERRETT, Chr. 1757, Possible parents William PERRETT & Elizabeth [Bright] PARROT [ The vowels and # of T's seem to change with every entry!!!!!!!] IGI gives christening at Cricklade, & Chicklade, but a suggestion was made to try Chilmark! This is a tough one!!!!These people moved alot!
-
Was the family movement mainly in the south of Wiltshire or did they venture north of Swindon? I found the Chicklade reference in the IGI but found nothing in Cricklade in the IGI. There are no IGI records for Chilmark. Do you have any other evidence for Chilmark?

Thanks for your kind relpy, Davierj, That was quick!!!
I am stumped! This family was very mobile, it seems. My first verification was that Jonathan & Hannah were married in St Denys Parish 1790. Warminster. Next verification, at Fonthill Bishop Parish, where Jonathan is buried in 1833 at age 76. A bit of Math would indicate that he wa born C/ 1757. but where? IGI gave 2 places- Chicklade & Cricklade. Parents were William Perrit & Elizabeth[both born at Castle Eaton].so it seems they were all over Wilts, as later generations were found back at Melksham & Warminster!
I was advised to check Chilmark Parish reg. I was hoping a fellow genealogist might have access to the reg, as it is a long and painfully delayed process to get them here

Hello,
I have a transcript of the Baptisms for Chilmark but, unfortunately, there is not an entry for Jonathan Perrett or any similar spelling.

Thank-you so very much. I am very appreciative of your time and effort. Do you have access to either Chicklade or Cricklade Parish records perhaps? The IGI on line lists both. One entry says father is William Perrot, Mother Elizabeth. The other one lists father as William Perritt Mother as Elizabeth Bright, both of whom were christened at Castle Eaton. I realize the IGI must be verified, but it is a place perhaps at which to begin. Thanks again.

Hello,
Sorry, I don't have access to these Parish Records.

Thank-you Berkslass, at least one has been eliminated.
I appreciate that you took time to do a look-up on my request.
People on this site are so kind and helpful. Glad I discovered it was available.
-
If Cricklade Parish Records are kept in Cricklade or Swindon (I live very close) I would gladly do a look-up for you.
-
Thanks for your kind offer. I live in Canada. I am making an assumption the Parish Reg, would be available at the Swindon/Chippenham ?? record office. I do not know if records are kept at Cricklade. Would a phone call tell you where they would be available? I have never done a search in England. Thanks again for your kind offer.
-
I will call my local records office in Swindon and see if the records are there for you. Cricklade is just north of Swindon so you may be lucky, I'll do my best for you.
-
I found Chicklade, Hindon, Salisbury, Wiltshire on the A303 on google maps.
-
Hi bishenbertie, Thanks so much for the kind effort you are extending on my behalf.
-
I have been onto the www.wiltshirefhs.co.uk website and under parish records they do have a cd for Hindon. We now need to find out were the actual records are kept. I will give Salisbury Records Office a call on Monday for you and see if they are kept there. Unfortunately if they are at Salisbury Records Office they are over an hour from here but I do occassionaly visit. I think if we establish were the records are kept it will be one foot forward.

Hi bishen bertie, Thank-you for your very kind assistence with this block! I have been stuck for some months and I am going to order the Chicklade film from LDS, as I would not wish to inconveniece you further, by having you go far out of your area. That is asking just too much ! I will order the Hindon Parish Reg. and see what is in them. Thank-you so very much for your assistence!
