Hi MJD,
The Old Muckamore Presbyterian church was demolished a few
years ago. It was deemed to be in such a bad state of repair
that it was found to be cheaper to renew than repair.
I have a contact who is going to try and get photos for me so
hopefully I can forward them to you.
In the meantime try the following;

Hi Brian
Thank you for the message, my great grandmother and grandfather, were married there the year 1860, they then moved to Cockermouth Cumbria, I knew it was Antrim they came from but did not know where until I went on Roots chat.

Have sent you a PM.
Forgot to ask if you had an address in Muckamore for your ancestors.
Dunadry Road, where the church is located has been extensively developed over the past few years but there are still quite a few old houses in the area.
You can find photos of the area at

Hi Brian,
No I don't have an address, they are my great grandparents , I think they left soon after the wedding, I think my Sarah Harper's parent's had a farm, and they did not approve of the marriage, he went to work as a casual labourer for them, he was said to be from the Romany gypses, Sarah was disowned and never returned to her parents home, thay moved to Cockermouth Cumbria, and worked as a gardener at Lorton Hall Lorton Cockermouth. Sarah had been educated and was quit priveleged. they had 12 children my gran being Sarah Jane Kirk, they are on the 1881 census Skinner St Cockermouth,as Thirk or Kirke, it must have been the strong accent, !!!!
Thank you so much for taking an interest I would love the card, send me your email address, I will then send my adddress in Nottinghamshire,
Regards MJD
