Looking for anyone with links to the Stevens family who were living at 45 Albermarle Rd Taunton in the 1911 census.
Family heads were John (1878) and Edith (1874) with their children Edith May (1902), Arthur John (1907), Frederick William (1910) .
John was a blacksmith originally from Thorn Falcon

Hello Just read your message re John Stevens. He was my ggrandfather's nephew. He was born the son of Hugh Stevens in 1877. Married Edith Mary Swanger 4/3/1902 in Hatch Beauchamp, Som. She was born 23/9/1874 in Kilve, Som. I have lots of info on the family.

I have a little info on the Stevens side but am interested in the family of John and Edith - children/grandchildren etc.
Edith was the daughter of Emily Swanger b 18 3 1838 Durleigh Somerset to Thomas Swanger and Amy Luckwell. Thomas was transported to Australia in 1844. Amy and Thomas never married and in 1841 Amy married his brother John - they had 2 more children
Thomas married in Australia and had more children. The Swaingers here are related to Ediths descendents there.

Just read your message.
There was a STEVENS family living in Curry Mallet (some 10 miles SE of Taunton) in the 1840's to 1860's. The father John STEVENS was a blacksmith, as was one of his many sons Simeon, who married an ancestor of mine and became the blacksmith at Butleigh, Somerset.

Regarding Emily Swanger bn 1849 Painswick Gloucestershire...My information differs from previous postings.
I have the parents of Emily as Thomas Slade Swainger, and his second wife Eleanor Beard..who married 1842 Painswick.
He was the son of Joseph Swanger and Charity Slade
Thomas Swanger (the convict) was married ? 1 Mary Tucker
2 Sarah Myers 1855 Australia
This Thomas was the son of Henry Swanger and Mary Mason
Some of the above came indirectly through a professional researcher but .......its easy to make mistakes

Strong chance the families are connected. The John Stevens im looking for was a blacksmith in Hatch Beauchamp c1900 before moving into Taunton. His father, Hugh, was a blacksmith in Thorn Falcon c1870.
I dont have any details on Hughs father only that he was born in Thorn Falcon (from the census)

You do have that information. It was on the CD I sent you. Hugh's father was John Stevens b. 1811 Thorn Falcon d. 1875 and he was the son of William & Sarah Stevens proprietors of the Nags Head, Thorn Falcon where the blacksmith's shop was situated.

Happy to finally get in contact with a direct member of the Stevens family. Your grandmothers parents were John Stevens and Edith Mary Swanger - the Swangers I have a lot of info on, in particular Edith Marys grandfather Thomas Swanger who was transported to Australia in 1844 (one of your relatives!!)
