Title: Marriage Certificate!
Post by: McTavish on Friday 27 March 09 15:38 GMT (UK)
Is there some kind person who would do a look up for me please.  I am looking for a marriage certificate for John Henry and Alice Cameron (may be Alice Carmody) who married Jan 1847, Bellinghame, Northumberland.  They later moved to Dumfries, Scotland.  In advance, many thanks,

Kind regards

Cannot see a marriage on the free bmd neither the complete index's for 1847. to a Cameron or Carmody.

Without the certificate how do you know  when the marriage took place  ???

I saw it on his son's birth Certificate. which I can't find at the moment.  Ir is the only clue I have.  Thanks for helping me even if nothing came of it.

 Kirsten,

Having dabbled a wee bit in looking for my Scottish relatives, I am assuming that a Scottish birth certificate holds details of the marriage ( where and when) of the child's parents ??

The Registration District in western Northumberland was Bellingham, which covered up the Scottish border.

There was an Ireland-born couple ( John and Alice Henry) living in Newcastle, but not married in the county !

Hi Michael

Bingo :D.   That could possibly be mine.  Do you have anymore info on them?  All I know is that their oldest son was born in Dumfries in 1851  I took it since they married in Bellingham I took it that they stayed there until they moved to Dumfries.  Would love to see what you have, please.

Best
Kirsten
