Whilst trawling through census and parish records I found the following:
Jam Curry - Married Tiverton, Devon 1854
Fanny Crease - Born Reading, Berkshire c1878 (From 1901 census)
Nimrod Buckett - Born Portsmouth, Hampshire 1820

That is just child cruelty...

Worst bit is that they are real! Heres another:
S. Hit - Born London 1862 (1871 census, Kensington).

Having said that my brother was saying yesterday that his friend applied for university under the name "Meanrock Distructicon" ;D
-
Bet they laughed at him did they?
-
No, he got accepted, rofl. He didn't go, but he got the letter framed :D
-
So when ancestry publish university applicants in 300 years time, people will find it hilarious!
-
"Meanrock Distructicon"
Typo or Transformers fan?
-
:P I don't know how you spell it... but probably Transformers fan :D
-
one of them ones you dread in a lift ;D

I'd rather her than Major Fart.
-
God help his wife in the "Dutch oven" ;D ;D ;D

Sarah Pissey Loud - Married Bath. Somerset 1874
Emily Spew Hole - Born Barton Regis, Gloucestershire 1885

apparently in the pc world that we now live in, daft names are dieing out... :( link (http://uk.news.yahoo.com/22/20090325/tuk-life-us-britain-names-fa6b408.html)
The meaning of the word Daft was 'Meek and Mild'

There’s an article in about names in today’s Daily Mail – with examples. I won’t quote any because (a) I’m far too polite, (b) I’m not sure I understand most of them. http://www.rootschat.com/links/05xn/
Oh, alright then – just a couple of examples that amused me: Sue Age (born 1849), Posthumous Mince (died 1839) and finally Anice Bottom (baptised 1837).

Fantastic. Cant beat a good laugh at someone elses expense! ;D

Some time ago when I was a bit bored in work, I went onto ancestry and did some census searches on funny names. I found a Donald Duck, a Minnie Mouse, a Betty Snot, a Ben Dover. a Homer Simpson, quite a few Harry Potters and tons of rude ones.

Peculiar Buttery - Married Wolverhampton 1871
May Pole - Born Leicester 1904

My OH thought I'd finally lost it when I started to LOL to myself reading this thread. It reminded me of one that was married at the same time as my ancestor in Cheshire
Joseph Shatwell :o
No laxatives needed for him then ;D
-
Did you know that a Sarah Smallass married John Watson in Norfolk, 1751. Wonder if she asked "Does my bum look big in this?"
:D
-
Came across this one the other day - more sad than daft though, since we immediately wonder if the "b" stands for born.... :'(
Isabella Base B DICKINSON married Jun Qtr 1893, Ulverston
Cheers
