I am trying to write down exactly what is said on this stone and not getting very far. Just wondering if we have someone with 20/20 vision around. I certainly am struggling!

I didnt want to influence anyones judgement earlier but I could have sworn I can see the word REGGIE.

I don't suppose there is any chance of the old holding over letters and scribbling over paper with crayon trick is there? ;)
-
I know its wrong to assume, but most stones have "In loving memory of". It might be that also.
-
I can see that bit above the Reggie... :)

*makes mental note for the future* :D Thanks

I think it's the grave of Reginald Gay JOHNS, son of Ethel Rose GAY and Richard Ernest JOHNS:
Marriages Sep 1908
GAY Ethel Rose: Truro 5c 259
JOHNS Richard Ernest: Truro 5c 259
Births Mar 1909
Johns Reginald Gay: Truro 5c 107
Deaths Sep 1911
Johns Reginald G, 2: Truro 5c 148
-
I wondered if those were initials... kept squinting to try and think of a name to fit the gaps, lol. Sounds good.
-
Wow!
How did you piece all that together? Thats incredible!
-
I searched freebmd for deaths of Reginald JOHNS, aged 2 or so, from 1900 through 1920 and settled on the one registered in Truro. And the letters preceding the surname JOHNS were strangely spaced, so I figured they were probably the initials of two people. So I looked for marriages of JOHNS also registered in Truro 1895-1910 and just scrolled down looking for folks with names starting with R or E - and Richard Ernest popped out - and Ethel Rose cinched it.
I think the line below REGGIE is:
"dearly loved child of"
-
Thank you! You are a genius!!!!!!

Ive just been having a look at Google Earth to see if I can find anything Tre**** near the cemetery I took the photo. Can see anything though.
-
I'm sure I've read somewhere when taking a pic of a headstone,do it slightly from the side-never square on.You will get the light catching the letters better that way.

You may already have the answer. I thought that I would look without reading other replies - I couldn't be influenced then. This is what I think it may be:
REGGIE
DEARLY LOVED CHILD OF
R.E. & E.R. JOHNS
WHO DIED ?? TRE??ISSO?
MAY 10 1911
AGED 2 YEARS & 5 MONTHS
SAFE IN THE ARMS OF JESUS

Thanks everyone for all your help! :)
-
I still cant work out the place name. Does anyone have any ideas?
-
There's a place called Tregisson near Penzance, I believe....
-
That must be it. If a cursory Google search can be trusted, it's in the parish of Ruanlanihorne / Ruan Lanihorne and within a mile or two from Veryan.
-
In Loving Memory

Dearly Loved Child Of
ER & RE Johns
Who died at The?isson. I Think it's a G?
