William F. Preshaw married Christian in june 1862 in Marykirk Kincardine in Scotland, he was born June 1833 in Fettercairn in Kincardine in Scotland. when I put in the name for a census all that came up was in the 1841 and 1851 Channel Islands When hw was 8 & 17 years old when the family stayed there but after the marriage I can't find them anywhere. His father had the same name and was a surgeon that's how I found him before he got married. I forgot Christian's maiden name was Lyall. Can anyone help?

Do you have the names/birthyears/birthplaces for any of their children
-
I don't have anything after the marriage which I think took place on 28/06/1862 in Marykirk Kincardine Scotland. I can't find them in Scotland, England or Jersey where the family lived when he was young. His father has the same name as him thatis how I found him when he was young before he married. His mother is Isabella Ogilvy, it's such an unusual name you would think they would be easy to find, unless they went abroad I suppose that's a possibility.

I think it's quite possible that the family emigrated and I also think Australia is a possibility
The incoming passenger lists have several Preshaw entries travelling from Australia to England and Ireland

I think I may have found them for you in Australia. (ancestry.com records)
Here is what I found.
VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA RURAL CEMETERY RECORDS 1836-1988
PRESHAW
William Fisher, died March 7, 1866, age 56
Campbells Creek/Castlemaine
Isabella Cull Preshaw, died Oct. 12, 1896, age 89
Campbells Creek/Castlemaine
William Fullerton Preshaw, died April 7, 1876, age 42
Campbells Creek/Castlemaine
You did not give the middle name for your William but you did show initial as F. so I hope this is the right fellow.
As the names seem right as well as ages I think this may be your family.
I didn't see a death for Christian, but since William died pretty young she may have remarried and be in records under second marriage name.

I`m a Presho, and have been researching the Presho family for some time now. I`ve found quite a number going back to 1654 in the same geographical area as Marykirk, ie between Brechin and Stonehaven, so clearly Presho and Preshaw are alternative spellings of the same name. The name Presho disappears from Scotland entirely after 1746, though whether this was due to Culloden, the Land Clearances, or they were part of the Covenant mission to send Protestants to Ireland I don`t know.
An Isaac Presho came over to England in the early 1800`s and settled around the Wigan area, and essentially, all the Preshos are descended from him. I have a pretty comprehensive list of them all if anyone is interested.
There are numerous Preshos in the USA, most of whom are descended from Peter Presho born c1705.
I`m really curious to know the derivation of the surname, though no doubt it`s lost way back in the mists of time. I think the Preshaw estate in Hampshire is just a coincidence, as there is no other evidence to link the name. I worked in Norway for some time and asked various experts if the Presho/Preshaw name could be Viking in origin, but those sequence of letters and sounds are not at all Nordic. There are a lot of Prasha names in the USA, which originates in Germany, and most emigrated in the 1880/1890`s. There are still a few in the area which was East Prussia but is now Poland, though the spelling has changed. I think it`s unlikely there is any connection with NE Scotland though.

Im a Presho trying to find a connection to my Isaac Presho b.abt 1807 Ireland i would appreciate any help :) :) ;)

We all manage to work our way back to Isaac (b c1811 m Catherine Mullen b c1815) but then can find out nothing else. It doesn`t help that the Irish records were destroyed in a fire c 1920. I don`t know of anyone who has put together anything at all sensible with regards the Irish line of Preshos. I can send you a list of the English ones if you want.
