Hi everyone..
Im new to this, and was wondering if anyone out there has researched the Boyd family in Dundee?
I have set up a family tree on My heritage, and would email somebody a link to have nosey if they think they can get me further back.
There was a tale from my grandad that one of the Boyds from his side helped Bonnie Prince Charlie on a boat back to Ireland.. and we all thought it was just a tale, but, I found this webisite:
http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~clanboyd/page16.htm
and it might just be true !
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi Ev.. thank you so much for your reply.
This is how far ive got back so far starting from the earliest date, ive not got very many dates as its a mismatch of marrige, death and birth certs that ive managed to get.
Im not to sure how to post it so it makes sense.. so sorry if its confusing.
Andrew Boyd (my grandfather): Died 2001.. DOB unknown
Andrew Gillan Boyd (Grt Grandfather): Died 15/04/1956.. DOB unknown.. born in 1902
married to Mary Ann McMurchie Nicoll (also went by the name of Marianne): Born 18/10/1908.. death unknown ( i remember it being in the 1990's.. scot people wont let me view the death cert)
Robert Boyd: Born 1887.. Died unknown
married to Elizabeth Wightman: Born 1873.. Died 19/04/22.... Robert Boyd is mentioned on her death certificate, but i cant make out what it reads. Her name is Elizabeth Kidd on her death certificate, so i can only presume she remarried as an Alex Kidd has signed her cert as widower
Thomas Boyd.. married to Julia Boyd.. i havent managed to find any information on these people.. they appear as Robert Boyds parents on his marriage certificate
Thomas Boyd snr Born 15/2/1854.. date of death unknown
married to Jane Boyle: Date of Birth & Death unknown
Sorry its quite vague.. im not having much luck on scotlands people for some reason.. any information & help would be greatly received.

I live in The United states but was born in Greenock Scotland. My mother was Margaret Boyd born in Port Glasgow to William( Born in Dundee) and Isabel Boyd. My grandfathers dad was Robert Boyd and Margaret Hill both from Dundee. My Grandfathers aunt and grannie were both named Julia. Any connection? I know my family in Scotland is still in touch with family in Dundee. I visited with Greta and Margaret Boyd in Dundee about 24 years ago . If I can be of any help just ask.
-
hi 2 irwin st..
The Julia boyd that i am looking for, her maiden name was Hennan or Henney?? would that be right with you?
-
To be honest with you I dont know. I can only go back as far as my greatgrandparent on my moms, dads side. They would be Margaret Hill and Robert Boyd. I do know that Roberts mother was Julia because they always told my mom she should have been named after her greatgrandmother Julia because she looked just like her. Her aunts name was also Julia. I will try to find out some more info from the family that still lives in Scotland. Good luck with your research,
-
auntie margaret, is that you?????
-
scot people wont let me view the death cert
No, it's too recent. You can order a copy, or you can get someone to go and transcribe the certificate for you.
Elizabeth Wightman: Born 1873.. Died 19/04/22.... Robert Boyd is mentioned on her death certificate, but i cant make out what it reads
If you come across something you can't read, e-mail Scotland's People and they will tell you what it says.
