I am descended from Colonel Hungerford. He was a Parliamentary Officer in the English Civil War. His family were from South Marston, where his g/father's(Henry, the second son of Sir John Hungerford of Down Ampney) Will was dated 1580. I have not found where Col. Hungerford was born/baptized?
I would be interested to hear from any researchers, or descendants.

Hello Coningesby,
There's a webpage referring to the Descendants of Walter Hungerford (http://www.lfthompson.com/descendants_walter_hungerford.htm) on the lfthompson.com website. Both Farleigh, Somerset and Down Ampney, Gloucestershire are mentioned. Farleigh is also mentioned in relation to the Hungerford family of Inchadoney, (http://www.askaboutireland.com/pilots/four/clonmuseum.html) Clonakilty, Co. Cork.

Hi Chrishopher,
Thanks for this! I looked on the site you mentioned, and it is my branch of the family. Unfortunately it follows the eldest son.
Colonel Hungerford was descended from a younger son, so it is harder to track info about him. I have however found out quite a lot since posting my query. I have put the info I have onto Wikipedia- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colonel_Anthony_Hungerford
if you want a quick look?
Many thanks once again for taking the trouble to write
Yours

I subsequently found that Colonel Anthony Hungerford was born 1608 in Salisbury. He was baptized in the Cathedral at Salisbury.
His parents were Henry Hungerford and wife Jane, the daughter of Henry Cotton Bishop of Salisbury
