Title: Barbados Elias Webb
Post by: Iamjillian on Friday 20 March 09 23:38 GMT (UK)
I am looking for any information on my great grandfather Elias Webb. He married Hariette Atwell in Dec 1848 and my Granfather Samuel Webb was born/christened 28th Dec 1849. I would very much like to know where Elias came from and if he was born in Barbados.

Hi and welcome to Rootschat

This is a submitted IGI entry which means somebody else is researching the same family.  As you can see from the spelling and the date of marriage - submitted entries are not to be relied on

Elizas Webb  Birth:  1816  Barbados, Caribbean

Death:  1877 Barbados, Caribbean
Spouse:  Harriette Atwell
Marriage:  1839  Barbados, Caribbean

You possibly already have this info from the IGI  -  siblings of your g/grandfather.  In all cases - parents were Elias & Harriet

MARY REBECCA WEBB  Christening:  18 MAR 1852   Saint Michael, Barbados

ALICE WEBB  Christening:  05 NOV 1854   Christ Church, Barbados

ELIAS ALLAN WEBB  Christening:  27 FEB 1857   Saint Michael, Barbados

A possible entry for Harriet

HARRIET ATWELL  Christening:  04 FEB 1821   Christ Church, Barbados  Father:  ATWELL     Mother:  MARY

A possible marriage

AMBROSE ATWELL    Spouse:  MARY CRONEY
Marriage:  27 JAN 1819   Saint Michael, Barbados

Thanks for the reply. Yes I had got this information except for the death of Elias. I am suspicious of the Atwell/Croney info from IGI as it has both Lancaster Va USA and Barbados on it!!  ::)     but it may be based on truth.
I am really after some way of finding where Elias came from.

The Webbs had at least 3 plantations in the SE of Barbados when Richard Ligon visited their c.1650.
