Title: COMPLETED Bradford Newspaper
Post by: Ogleway on Tuesday 17 March 09 07:10 GMT (UK)
Is it possible to have a lookup for a Bradford newspaper?

I am looking for a death notice and funeral notice for Dolina Clyne Campbell nee McLeod usual address Wrose, Bradford. She died in Idle, Bradford 1983.

Her death of 31/3/1983 and funeral arrangements after PM on 7th April 1983 April must have been noted in the local newspapers.

Many thanks,
Ogleway

Hi
I assumed you meant Bradford in Northumberland with this but it has been pointed out to me that Idle Bradford is in fact in West Yorkshire so I have moved the post.

The local paper in Bradford is the Telegraph and Argus.
I had a look for archive news, found only going back 10 years (news only).

Just been in contact with Bradford Central Library on your behalf.
They would accept an e-mail enquiry on their website.

See if they can come up with the goods?
Let us know.

Thanks again Brian for your kind help.

I have emailed them as you suggested.
I have also written to Council, Holy Trinity and Bradford Cemetery.
So hopefully I will come up trumps.

I will let you know the result.

Hi Brian,

Thanks to you I have had very helpful return of post reply from Bradford Library.
Unfortunately, no notice of death or funeral found and no burial in cemetery list.
I have contacted Nab Wood Cemetery as suggested and await reply.

Will let you know outcome.

Well Nab Wood is only 'over the hill' from Idle.

just a suggestion, but many funerals from Wrose and Idle take place at Rawdon crematorium which is also very close, but comes under Leeds. might be worth looking into if no luck with Nab Wood.

If it was in Leeds, Lawnswood are the people to contact.
(They have all records for Leeds cremations)
Will come back with a phone No, as its not to hand at the moment.

Please note that the Parks and Countryside's Head Office main reception telephone number 0113 3957400 is staffed from 8.00am - 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00am - 4.00pm on a Friday. Outside of these hours you can leave a message on the answerphone.
(Note on website indicates that given a death date, they could advise where ashes scattered!)

FOUND HER! :)  :)
Got a reply from Nab Wood Cemetery this morning.

She was cremated on 7th April 1893 and ashes scattered in Nab Wood Cemetery.
Strange there was no notice in the press.

Thanks to everyone for all the help.
Kindest regards
Ogleway
