and also to William Borlase Master Mariner at 33 Ruperra street Newport in Johns 1880
on Monfamilies website

I live in Newport and the site Rhys refers is mine, so you owe me a pint. by the way if you live in Newport you can pop along to the reference libarary where you will find all the answers to your questions. and after that take a trip to the records office.
William Anstie wife was Anne Florida and they married at Christchurch in 1829. I was in contact with someone a couple of months ago who is researching this Florida family.
Also William Anstie was born at Pill parish in North Somerset and ended up at Pill Newport bit of a coincidence.

Hi Ian,
I have Anstice family originating in Somerset, many being mariners, pilots, sailmakers etc. and can get back to Charles Anstice b. c1769. I am trying to establish if Wm. fits in with my lot! A number of them moved from Pill to Pill and the names Sarah Ann and Elizabeth crop up in several generations. Have you any details on Wm's parentage or siblings? Janet

Hello Ian, I have contacted the Pill project in Newport to see if they have any more detail on Wm. I am descended from a Charles Anstice b. 1769 in Pill Somerset through his son Charles b.1802. I wonder if your William was related to either of these but I think the only way to find out will be if someone is local and can check Parish Records. I know some are on the internet but I can't find anything relevant there yet. I'll stay in touch if I have any success. Janet

Ian & Janet
William Anstice who married Anne Florida is not the Pilot he was a gardener who lived in Christchurch parish Mon 1851.
Sorry about the error, but I have only just found this family on the 1851 census.
