Hiya vetty
You can order them online from the General Registry Office
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/
You will need their reference number which you can sometimes find on either
FreeBMD
http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl
UKBMD
http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/
or you can order them from the local registry office and the link to those is on the GRO site
Just make sure that if you order them from the local registry office that you give them as much information as possible
Certificates cost £7.00

I personally find it quicker to order from Leominster registry office itself they`re very helpful and a relative has ordered copies from GRO that are practically illegible when received
Address is
The Old Priory
Church St.
Leominster HR68EQ
Tel. 01568 610131

I can confirm the Leominster Register will do the certificates in a day normally.
They are open Mon Wed Fri 9.30 to 1pm if you want to ring and check they hold the certificate, and it is not in another District as some District areas changed and amalgamated over the years.
