Title: Clydebank Blitz

Hi,

Can anyone help.  I have just discovered some relatives who died on the 13th March 1941 (Clydebank blitz).  They lived in Earl Street Scotstoun and cause of death was due to bomb explosion.  Is there a memorial to the Glasgow folks who died during the blitz and where is it.  Clydebank have a list of their casualties on the net, can Glasgow's casualties be found on the net.

Have you checked the CWGC site? http://www.cwgc.org/debt_of_honour.asp

Many civilian casualties are listed on the above site, but unfortunately, not all and the places of burial are not necessarily listed.

Many of Glasgow's cemeteries have individual stones to those who were killed the blitz but to find them, you would probably have to contact Glasgow Cemeteries at:

Unfortunately there is no monument in Glasgow itself to replicate what Clydebank have now done.

The other problem is that just as elsewhere there was no single event and the number of deaths although high for Scotland occurred over a couple of years of raids.

Why not post details of the individuals you're looking for?

You never know - somebody somewhere might either be able to find out for you or already have the information.
