Title: Mumby - ?Wrong Christian name on IGI
Post by: LizzieW on Saturday 14 March 09 16:47 GMT (UK)
Does anyone have access to any Parish birth records?  According to IGI, my 2 x g.grandfather had a brother born about 1822 called "Shibbolette Esau" Mumby.  I cannot find any other trace of this person.  However, there is a man called Simeon Mumby born about the same time (estimated from census entries).  According to Lincs.Marriage Index, Simeon's father was called George, which was also the name of my 2 x g.grandfather's father.

Coincidence, or do you think Shibbolette Esau and Simeon are the same person?

Lizzie

As far as I can see in my marriage index, there was only one George MUMBY active around that time.

George MUMBY married Mary ROGERS Boston 1805 - no kids till 1814 ???

Simeon and Shib - I suspect they were the same person.

Some burials
George 23 July 1852 (74)
Charlotte 12 Aug 1824 (8 wks)
Eliza 30 Jan 1818 (4)
Arabella Charlotte 27 May 1827 (18m)

Geoff

Many thanks for that.  My 3 x g.grandfather George was married to a Mary.  I didn't know her name, but guessed it might have been Rogers, as their first child born in 1815 was baptised James Ro(d)gers.

Can you give me any more info about their 1805 marriage?  Perhaps where they married and their ages.

Their children (according to IGI) were James Rodgers abt.1815, George Reuben (my 2 x g.grandfather) abt. 1818 Elizabeth Eliza abt.1820, Sibbolette/Simeon abt 1822, Sarah Charlotte about 1824 and Arabella Charlotte abt 1825.  I did find the deaths of Charlotte (?Sarah Charlotte) and Arabella Charlotte on FindMyPast Parish Burials.  I don't know if the Eliza buried 30 Jan 1818 is another of their children or not.  Was she their first born after their marriage?  Maybe they had miscarriages or stillbirths before the live babies started to arrive.

Thanks
Lizzie

ps.  What is your marriage index?
pps.  Got to log out now,I think OH is getting our evening meal ready, so need to show some support. ::)

Hi Lizzie, I think Shibbolette Esau and Simeon were two different people. Shib. b 1821, christened 13 Jan 1822, Boston, Lincoln. Simeon b 1822. Sarah Charlotte b 1824 Boston, Lincoln, christened 3 June 1824 Boston, Lincoln. Arabella Charlotte b 1825 Boston d 27 May 1827 Boston. Christened 19 Dec. 1825.

Elizabeth Eliza was Christened 24 March 1820 at St. Botolph's Church, Boston.

I hope you get something out of that, I do have a bit more on next generation down, cheers
Lance
