I was wondering if anybody would be so kind to look up some of my Family for me.

The name is Richard Wincott. born 1776
Brailes, Warwickshire, England.

Wife Jane Gilkes, married 1795 25 Aug in Brailes, Warwickshire, England

Children, William wincott 1800 Brailes, Warwickshire, England.

I carnt seem to find him or his wife in any census. i would like to find out his parents name.

I know he had a lease for 10 years from Ralph Sheldon of Weston of a farm and premises with closes called Long Ground,
Three Acre Close, Hovel Ground, Long Pool Close and Barn Ground, all in Barcheston.

Any info anybody could find on him would be great.

I have a Richard Gilkes(1735) Married(23/4/1754) to a Patience Wincott(1734) but
 
after that no Family before that 1Gen only these come via Whichford you can Look up

the Whichford church records on the net

Hi Simon,
I think I'm related to your Wincotts. My great, great grandfather John Clark from Hook Norton, Oxford, (later moved to Smethwick) married Jane Wincott  in 1833 at Martin´s  in the Bull Ring, Birmingham. She was born in Barchester and her parents were Richard & Jane Wincott so it looks very likely that my Richard & Jane Wincott are the same as yours.

Not to worry as all this new infor as regards Wincotts has opened a whole new avenue of research for my family history and I need time to digest it and put it together. Also I have just received an email from Noel who is also on this site. so I have a lot of work to do!!!!

My Great great grandfather was called William Wincott, he was born in Moreton Morrell in about 1850. His wife was called Ellen Gibbs from Warden in Bedford, They moved to Manchester and got married at Manchester Cathedral in 1872. They then lived in Heaton Norris near Stockport. They had three  daughters, Mary Ellen 1875, Emily Rose Anne 1879 (my Great Grandmother) Fanny Louise 1884.
