I'm trying to find the parents of James W Dean and Jessie Austin who married in Jun 1920 in Paddington. That's all the info I have, could someone point me in the right direction please.
Thanks

You really need to purchase the marriage cert -which should give father's names and occupations -also witnesses are sometimes family members
There are several James w deans in London area who are possibilities -likewise Jessie austin

Thanks, what's the best way to buy a certificate - I've managed to find it online but don't know where to get it from.
Thanks

Order online from here http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/
It'll cost you £7.
Make sure you tick the box on the first page that asks " Is the GRO ref known" then on page 3 you'll only need to complete those boxes with red stars.

Got the marriage certificate, it shows James William Dean, Assistant Fruiterer, aged 23 m Jessie Austin, aged 22, on 26th April 1920.
Father of James William Dean is Arthur Dean, Carman and Contractor.
Father of Jessie Dean is James Austin, Fruiterer.
Wonder if James married his boss's daughter.
Not sure if I've found the father of James W Dean on the 1901 census - can you check for me? The dates fit.
Also with James Austin, I think I've found him on the 1901 census, married to Ellen Austin with a daughter called Jessie.
Thanks

HI there
I think I have found the Dean family in 1901- living in Wiilesden.
Just to be sure though-who were the witnesses to the marriage.
Often they are brothers or sisters of the bride or groom.
Dad is certainly an omnibus driver(as were all my rellies in the same area as this!)
RG13/1223 folio 20 page 32
Is that the same one as you found?

I would certainly agree that is the right Austin family.
Living in Holborn with Jessie age 2.
Dad James a fruiterer- what a big family she came from!

Now to find them both on the 1911-pay per view website of course.
