Hi All,
By accident I have come across what could very possibly be an additional family member. Whilst looking for something of no connection to my Bloomfield family I found this burial record:
Ernest Wilfred Bloomfield
Buried 4th Nov 1883
Age 7 months
Abode: Marsh Lane, Ridgeway.
With that I searched for a birth and came up with:
Name: Ernest Bloomfield
Year of Registration: 1883
Quarter: Apr- May-Jun
District: Chesterfield
County: Derbyshire
Volume: 7b
Page: 768
Does anyone have access to parish records so as to verify the parents or is a certificate the only way?
All help very much appreciated.
Regards
Gregg

Thanks for the reply omskirk it is much appreciated. I already have that record from 1881. The family were still in Eckington in 1891 and I can't seem to find any other Bloomfields in the area in that time period. With that, I suspect that these are the parents of Ernest Bloomfield but would have liked to confirm it.
Many thanks
Gregg

I am transcribing Eckington registers but I'm only up to 1800, there are no Bloomfields up to that period, I can have a look further on when I next go to the Archives, but it won't be till next Thursday

Omskirk,
I am almost sure that the Bloomfields you gave me from 1881 are the first in Eckington. As you will have seen, Joseph (my g grandfather) was born in Ireland 1871 and his sister Mary in Eckington 1877. They have arrived some time between the two birth dates. With the lack of other Bloomfields in the area I feel sure Ernest was an addition to this family. I have been in touch today with Josephs only remaining child. She is a sprightly 94 year old but doesn't have any knowledge of her father mentioning a sibling that died young. Some confirmation on Ernest Bloomfield would be great.
Thanks for your kind offer omskirk, I really appreciate your help.

Thanks omskirk, I am grateful of your help and appreciate your time.
The whereabouts of some of these Bloomfields have been unknown for a lot of years, I am sure a little longer isnn't going to matter. ;D ;D

I won't be able to do your lookup this week, the Archives are booked up

No Ernest Bloomfield baptised at Eckington in 1883, he may have been baptised at Chesterfield
