Title: Walker, Smith and Chatterton - Completed
Post by: BCW on Tuesday 10 March 09 23:50 GMT (UK)
One more Gaspesian looking for family roots, I'm hoping that one of these branches cross your path and we could help each other.
I know there are a few of us stumped at getting information on the elusive Joseph Walker; b1782 London, d1834 in New Carlisle Quebec, married Mary Smith ABT 1818.  Thoughts are that Joseph immigrated to North America around 1816-18, possibly landing in New York.  I found a passenger list for the Ossian with 3 occurances of J Walker.. a stretch I know

Thoughts are that he landed in New York, that is where he met his future bride Mary Smith, coming from German Flats, Mohawk River, New York.

Joseph and Mary moved to New Carlisle Quebec, had 8 children (from what I gathered):
Ann b1819**, Jane b1821, James b1823, John Edward b1826, William b1827, Sarah b1829, Thomas b1831, Margaret b1834

Mary's branch:
Mary nee Smith, daughter of David Smith and Margaret Teague.
David Smith b1771 in Scotland, d20 Mar 1867 New Carlisle, married Margaret 1787 (looks like he was 16) in New Carlisle
Margaret b1769 in German Flats, Mohawk River, New York, d 1867

I also have Amasa Chatterton (son of Samual Chatterton and Charlotte Beebe b1767 d1852) marrying one of Joseph & Mary's daughters; Ann Walker **.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
