I've only been on RootsChat for 2 or 3 days and have spent so much time reading old and new posts on each board and been completely riveted that I haven't had time to collate any of my queries to put forward.
Fantastic !! :) :)

Hi BattyB,
Welcome to Rootschat! ;)
Be prepared to become an addicted Rootschatter! ;D
B.
-
Welcome Betty ;D
Bet ya haven't done all the "ortas" either ::)
Maybe even, none of them ::) ;D ;D
-
In this castle of forums, I'm not quite sure which room or forum to visit next! I am "riveted w/rootschat", too!
-
I have been reading Rootschat for a few weeks but not made more than two posts, but oh how much I have learned from this site. Learned lots about lateral thinking. We sometimes miss things because we have tunnel vision and you can't do that in this Genealogy caper.
-
Welcome to RC Dorliaz and Battybat.
I was riveted to RC when I first joined, and like you two didn't do any searching for a while, but boy did I learn a few things :D
Nothings changed, I still read RC everyday and people's kindness :-*/knowledge here never ceases to amaze me.
Ambers
-
Thanks Ambers for the Welcome, Yes, peoples kindness to one another is what draws you in, the info they retrieve and the encouragement, there are no novices on "Rootschat" only people being given encouragement and show the way to go.
-
Sorry about that, was just trying to work out how to use pictures, how do I make him smaller and put him to the left hand side.
-
Hi Dorliz & BattyBat - welcome to Rootschat which, as you have already discovered, is a wonderful place.
To use the image as your Avatar, click on the grey profile button at the top of the page and then go to your details and you'll find a browse option which will enable you to navigate to your picture and set it up as your avatar.
Regards,
Greensleeves
-
thanks for that Greensleeves, hope I did it right. If not will try again later, have to go and have some brekkie now.
-
Hi BattyBat and Dorliz,
Welcome from me too .. !
When you've finished your breakfast, you will have to resize your picture before you can attach it as your avatar. The maximum size can't exceed 150x150 pixels or be larger than 20 KB.
Good Luck .. ! :)
Pels.
-
Thanks Pels, see how I go this time. If not will have to give it away.
-
Dorliz, to put your picture on the left hand side, you need to modify your profile information & upload your picture to the profile. Click on "profile" at the top of the screen.
-
Hello Nick29,
Yes I click profile at the top of the page but what do I do after that. I seem to be missing something.
-
Hi again Dorliz,
When you click on your profile, you should see a box at the left hand side.
Modify Profile
and under that .. ..
RootsChat Profile Information
Click on the small circle next to ..
I will upload my own picture: if you then click on the Browse button it should open a new box containing your Picture File. Select the picture you want for your avatar, remembering the picture has to be within the sizes I quoted earlier.
Scroll to the bottom of that page and press the button which says Change Profile.
I don't think I've forgotten anything .. ? :D
-
thank you pels,
I did that when I got that big dinosaur, and you saw the result, hope it's okay now because i got a picture in my profile. thanks to all of you for your help.
-
Very smart and well done .. you look quite at home now .. ! :D
-
Well done Dorliz ;D
We'll all be round for a cuppa later ;D
-
I'll put the kettle on :)
Battyb starting this forum has given me a little more confidence
to post on other boards. ;D
-
Nice bit of Crown Derby there :)
If you're handing out cuppas, may I have one too please ....
and go for it on ancestor hunting.
If you find any of my Smiths be sure to let me know ;D ;D ;D
-
Just set another cup,
How many Smith's do you want, I have two lots, one I think is proving not to be a Smith at all ::)
-
Hi All, have been running since last August an Ancestry Top Twenty of songs related to Ancestry, which has been great fun ;D Hope some of the new members can come up with some ideas, Welcome All :) :)
