Could someone please look up the electoral roll for Emile de Chastel. He died in 1919 and was living in the Capricornia district at that time. I would like to know where he was living in the earlier rolls and his occupation please. Would appreciate any information on him.
Thanks Pauline

Thank you Kris and Cando You are amazing the information you find. This has really got me intrigued. My G Aunt is Ann Elizabeth Lawrence. She had four children to Emile between 1881 and 1894 and after that I can find no information on her. She must have died between 1894 and 1898 as she is not on her fathers death cert in 1898 as living but I can find no death record for her. So I now have Agnes to sort out. I wonder if he married her. Many thanks for your help it's much appreciated.
Pauline

Pauline I have looked for a death for Ann and a marriage with Agnes with nil result. She may have died in another state perhaps. Will look further.
Cheers
Cando

There is this death under LAWRENCE :-\ Probably a long shot.
1894/B26701
LAWRENCE Ann Elizabeth
Father James Lawrence Mother Sarah Jane Mulhall
From your other post on Frederick A LAWRENCE, I see that the father is Charles LAWRENCE who died in 1898.
Cando
Edit to strike out possible death.

Pauline,
Looking further I noted in 1930 Electoral Roll at Fir St Barcaldine we have

Thank you Kris and Cando for all the wonderful information. You have certainly sorted out Agnes for me. I guess Ann Elizabeth will stay a mystery, her parents were Charles and Eliza so do not match the 1894 death unfortunately. Looks like Emile never married Agnes, poor lady. I would love the six De Chastel names on the 1949 Electoral Roll thank you Cando if you don't mind sending them. Thank you both once again for all your help, you are tremendous. Nearly midnight here in New Zealand so I'm off to bed.

Thank you Cando you have given me lots to ponder over. As Claude was living in Mt Morgan in 1898 his mother Ann Elizabeth possibly died there as so many of my relatives were in Mt Morgan at one time or other. Thank you again for all your help.

Here is a link to the data base for burials in Mount Morgan. Unfortunately it is not in alphabetical order.

I also did a % search for Ann's death between 1894 and 1899 but it did not reveal her death.
I wonder if there was a divorce
Qld Archives show that De Chastel and Lawrence seem to have had a selection of land together!!

Hi Jenn the W Lawrence on the land selection at Stanwell would be William, Ann's brother. Had no luck on the Mt Morgan cemetery site. If Ann died there surely there would be some kind of record. I just keep going back to her fathers death certified with her and Frederick's name missing. Maybe Ann and Frederick returned to England but I cannot believe she would leave her children. These two have me stumped. Thanks again for all this information you keep finding. You are amazing.
Pauline
-
Pauline,
on the father's death certificate does it show any of the children being deceased? That is of course if you are aware of any being deceased.
Jenn
-
Yes Jenn it lists the seven living and dead 4 males and 1 female.
I have just sent off for a death cert for the mother Eliza Lawrence but that could take two months to arrive. She died in 1922 so there might be something extra on her cert that is not on Charles.

Hi again I am trying to locate the ship Emile de Chastel emigrated to Aust on. He married in 1880 so it is before then. He is not on the shipping list for Qld that I can find. I have had trouble trying to get shipping lists for other states. Hope someone can help.

Once again thanks for your help

hi Pauline, this is Alicia de Chastel here, sorry i haven't gotten back to you before this, i have been overseas and kept only remembering that i hadn't replied once i was off the computer. i would be interested in some of your research, i have only just started learning about the de Chastel side after typing my mum's name into google (also Ann de Chastel) and it showing that she had died in a house fire (naturally we were both a little spooked at finding this information). i look forward to any help you can offer on the de Chastels.
the email you sent me doesnt appear to be working so hopefully you get this. my email is (*)

I found this site by accident and was fascinated to find my Mum and Dad's names mentioned. Dad was Claud de Chastel and Mum was Delina (Piggott). I know very little about my Dad's life before he met Mum and would be interested to receive any information anyone has.
-
Hi LdeC,
I sent you a personal message awhile back and as I have not heard from you wondered if you had received it.
Pauline

Hi LDeC,
A Big Welcome to RootsChat ;D
Hi also Pauline - Just to let you know that as a new member LDeC does not yet have full access to the PM system. New members need to make 3 postings before the PM system is fully open to them.
LDeC - perhaps you could reply here a couple of times you will then be able to correspond privately and perhaps share your email address with Pauline. ;D
All the best in the contact.
Cheers Kris :)

Thanks Kris. I hope LDeC does get in touch as I have lots of information I can pass on to her.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm sorry I have no idea how to negotiate this board yet.
Pauline: I sent you an email which hasn't bounced back, so presumed you had received it. I'll try again but in the meantime I'll keep checking this site.
-
Hi LDeC :)
If you reply once more the pm system will be available for you to use. Perhaps just a thanks to me and then you can send a pm to Pauline.

Hi Kris and Cando - you'll just have to point me in the right direction if you need me to reply to anything. I sent Pauline an email but think I left something off her address, so have sent another today.

I have a copy of Emile de Chastel and Agnes Nelson's marriage certificate (in Rockhampton) on 15th April 1895. Both are listed as widower/widow. He was 50 and she 30. they were married in St Joseph's Roman Catholic Church Rockhampton.
-
Hi alipal,
I have a copy of Emile's death certificate if you would like it. I would love a copy of his marriage certificate. I also have his birth cert (in French) and a photo of Annie his second wife, my Great Aunt, Emile and two of the children. I have not been able to access the letters you mention about Agnes asking for money after Leo's death but keep trying to get onto that sight.
I will send you a private message with my email address as it will be easier to keep in contact that way. Please let me know if you receive it.

hello Pauline, Emile profession was a Pharmacist, but on coming to Australia he was not allow to practice, so he got a job as a wardsman at the Mount Morgan hospital.
-
Pauline, I am a great grandchild of Agnes De Chastel. Agnes had 4 children when she married Emile. He had 4 children and after the marriage they had 2 more, Angelo and Vincent. My mother says the her mother spoke kindly of Emile that he was a kind and gentle man, that would not give to his children if he could not give to all the children.

Dear Cottontop
How good to hear from one of the de Chastel family. My grandmother was Sarah (nee Needham) and joined Agnes in Australia. I would love to share information with you. I can't quite remember how this site works but I'll check and see how we can send a private mail.

Hi Cottontop and alipal,
Thanks for the information on Emile's profession as a Pharmacist. I had seen he was a Pharmacist on one of the earlier electoral rolls but did not know he was a wardsman at the Mount Morgan hospital. Have you found any information on his first wife in France? She must have died very young.
How are you alipal? Have you found any more information on your grandmother Sarah?
Please lets know if I can help with any information.
Pauline
-
alipal, great to hear from you. You have given me some info that I did not know. I will write when I have been able to collect all my info. Will write soon.

Pauline. When Emille came to Aust. he was not allowed to practice and so he had to have a job. Agnes and Emille meet because he needed a housekeeper and granny needed a job to support the family. We did not know he had been married in France, all we new was that he had a title "Baron" but that their land and title was taken from them.
