I picked this up at a car boot sale for 50p, complete with frame
I have removed the photo from the frame, the card it is mounted on is marked T Hollingsworth, Beverley. A well known local photographer. On the reverse is written Local - Bevereley?
At first I thought it was the War Memorial in the Memorial Gardens, adjacent to St Mary's Church, Beverley. I had a look today and is is not there.
I wonder if anyone can provide details of the occasion, location and date

Hi,
I'm not certain but it looks very much like an'' Eleanor Memorial '', a memorial to Eleanor of Castile. There is one at Sledmere , which is in the right area i believe.Do some googling and you will find more info and pics about them.
As for the decade i'd say 1940's.

I think lornadoone's got it...well done :)
It's not an actual Eleanor cross but a replica, and this is the best photo of the figures on the side I've been able to find:
