Title: Germany: Dresden - THIELE
Post by: AScot on Friday 06 March 09 19:32 GMT (UK)
Germany: Dresden: Thiele

I am looking for information on the father of Charles Edward Thiele (1853-1903 )who came to the UK; kept his German Nationality; worked as a restaurant waiter and was married in Manchester in 1882. His marriage certificate lists his father as Charles Adolph Thiele, Inn-Keeper, deceased. That's all I know of him. Can anyone fill the gaps with details of Charles Adolph's dob and dod and do  marriage and details of his wife and ancestors.
Hopefully

Hello Thiele
Your title mentions Dresden. Are you stating the family came from Dresden?

If so then this may narrow your search for records in Germany.

For the time period you give you would need to address any searches to the Churches in Dresden  depending on what religion he was ie Catholic, Lutheran, Jewish etc. As most of us do not know this - one has to work by trial and error ie contacting the church authorities for each religious organisation in turn.

Approaching the archives in Dresden if that is the place the Thiele's came from maybe a shortcut

This is their website

http://www.dresden.de/en/02/anliegen/archiv.php

I am sure RC's on the sister site or this one can help with the German translation you will require to complete the forms

Best wishes
Sue
