Title: Gurteen, Kilsheelan
Post by: Mindy100 on Thursday 05 March 09 20:38 GMT (UK)
I believe my grandfather worked on the Gurteen De La Paor Estate in the first decade or two of the 1900's, initially as groom then coachman and then a car driver.

Is anyone aware of any estate records for Gurteen De La Paor that may shed some light on my ancestors working life on the estate?

Kind Regards

By typing in the words ' Gurteen de la paor estate Tipperary' in the search engine it comes with a photo of the house, but alas no workers records.

If you know your grandfather's name, have a look at the 1901 and 1911 Census online at http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/

Enter Kilsheelan as the townland and click the 'Show All Information' button at top - that should give you an idea who all the staff at Gurteen were then.

Good luck!
