Can anybody help me with recommending websites that would help me search for ancestors in the USA? There seem to be so many and many of them seem to be incomplete. Of course, I would prefer to use a free site but if there is a subscription site that is reliable then I would pay. The states of Indiana and Ohio are of particular interest to me. Thanks in advance. :)

I don't have a great deal to do with the USA but this is a very good site worldwide

The US Genweb sites which are organized state by state and, within the states, by county. These are variable in quality but some states and counties have lots of information.

Hi
You could always post a request asking for a specific look up and someone maybe able to help you out - just give enough info so they have somethign to work with.

Ancestry World subscription covers America very well - if you are looking up American ancestors in particular, it's best to use Ancestry.com and not Ancestry.co.uk

You can check out our board full of US resources: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,396.0.html
If you're doing a lot of research, I'd say Ancestry.com is pretty much invaluable. Rootsweb.com has some good free stuff. www.deathindexes.com has a lot of good links to find death and other records, but some of them are links to pay sites.
