Would a very clever person be able to colour Ada Hibbard please. She is my many times grt aunt. She was born in 1858, she was a servant for George Cornish on the 1881 census and apart from that I know nothing about her. Can't find a marriage or a death! But I think she would look lovely with some colour.
Thank you
Jeanne

Hi Jeanne,
She is so beautiful :) :) I had to try and find her.
Sorry if you already have this.
Ada was born 1858, Hackney, 1b 355
1861 Census
Hackney
She is 2,with parents Jabez and Martha+ lots of siblings. Jabez born Wiltshire and Martha Derbyshire. + Margaret Gregory, sister ,aged 26.
!881 with the Cornishes as you said
Death ; Jabez Hibbard, Sept 1883, Hackney 1c 337
1891 she is with Mother Martha and brother Frederick aged 22 in Limehouse ( Martha is a widow and greengrocer) and Ada her assistant. Frederick is a bullion porter.
Cant find marriage/death either, unless mistranscribed. Also cant find her 1901 census.

Thank you Trish, I didnt have the 1891 info so now at least I know she didnt die before then. She was a lovely young thing, cant believe I cant find a marriage for her but I'll keep looking.
Thanks again

There are quite a few possibilities if you search freebmd with Ada Hibb*
Is that your Tree on Ancestry that mentions Ada?
Trish
-
I haven't got a tree on Ancestry Trish. I'll have a good look through the freebmd now, see if I can find her.
Thank you
Jeanne.

Thank you very much Carol. It seems that the 2 Thomas's married the Ada's. Thomas Nathaniel Jones would have been 25 years older than my Ada, making him 60 in 1897, but I think he had money! Thomas Nelson Morris would have been 5 years younger.
When I get some spare pennies i'll send off for the marriage certificates and see what they say.
Thanks again,
Jeanne

You're welcome Genie...have you looked on the 1901 census for them to see if there are any other clues?
Carol
-
No, I haven't Carol. I don't have access to it at the moment. Her mother doesn't die until 1905 so maybe she is living with them. If a kind person has the time to look I'd appreciate it please.
Thank you

1901 census
Thomas is married to Ada ages are 38 and 32 respectively
there is a daughter Ethel age 2 and a mother in law Susanah Hibberd 69
he is born Bermondsey and Ada and mother are from Yorkshire

Jones in 1901 were of independant means... he was 68 and she was 49 (ada) born in Islington.
There is a death in 1902 of an Ada Morris aged 35? (could be childbirth related?) Marylebone
There is a child death of an Ada Martha in 1903 also Marylebone...poss....??
Then there is 1917 aged 51 Ada Marylebone..?
thats all of an approximate age range... (I think)

Bless you Xin :-*...I was just about to look for her....I'm glad I checked here first...
Could she have emigrated genie?
Carol
-
Thank you both so much, I wouldn't have got as far as I have without people like you helping me!
Jones in 1901 - age and date would have made her born 1852 which is a bit out and I dont know where she was born in London, could have been Islington!
The death in 1902 could have been her.
The child death is a possibility, her mothers name was Martha so that maybe where that came from.
Mother in law on 1901 would have been Martha not Susannah, also Martha was born in Derby and Ada London (I believe).
I'm not sure if she emigrated, Carol. I have the bearest information about her, sorry.
Thank you again.

hope the info was less confusing than I ended up thinking it was????

I thought I understood it this morning, Xin, but now I'm not so sure. I made the mistake of putting Joby Hibbard into Ancestry and then looking at who had him on their tree. Well Mel has along with 5 other's. One has his wife as Martha Gregory and another has Martha Watson as his wife. From what I have found out in the past, Jabez's mother was Martha Watson and his father was Thomas Hibbard.
This will take some thinking about. I might email my cousin in the morning and ask her if Jabez and Joby are one and the same or 2 different people!
Thanks again for your help Xin, I'll let you know if I find the answer!

the only reason I didnt think they were the same person is due to the 'trade' they followed.
If I remember right one was a greengrocer and the other an Iron Moulder....
all the best with it..
