Hi
I am looking for information regarding Thomas Camm who was a sawyer in Lincolnshire in early 1800's and married Mary ?. His son John Camm went on to be the caretaker of the Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi wilwil,
This is the only reference I have managed to find to either father, or son:
http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/mss/online/online-mss-catalogues/cats/denison_oss3.html
And, it might not be the right Thomas Camm.
I doubt that the Belvoir estate records, would tell you anthing about John's parents; and it doesn't look too hopeful, with regard to accessing their records:

Such a shame! :(
Another thought (as I presume you are trying to find John's mother's name, is to look for Thomas Camm's will, in the hope of finding it there.
Hope this helps + good luck.
Paulene :)

Hi again,
Just had another thought.
If you still can't find her name, and the marriage, then you might be able to track back to the previous generation with apprenticeship records. I believe sawyers had to serve apprenticeships, and the records should be in the Lincolnshire archives office - if you're lucky they might be indexed!
At least the reord will tell you, roughly, his birth year; and you might be fortunate in finding that he served his apprenticeship with his father, and it says 'son of...'

Hi - the 1871 and 1861 censuses have him listed as sawyer. He was my great great great great grandfather.
