Title: WOOD family Kings Stanley
Post by: Kells on Tuesday 24 February 09 23:05 GMT (UK)
I am searching for John Wood who married Elizabeth Alder 23 May 1790 in Kings Stanley. Children were Martha 1791, Mary 1793, Dinah 1796 and Sarah c1802. I am not sure of the parents of John or Elizabeth but note there are many Alders/Aldays in Kings Stanley. There were only a couple of John Woods in the IGI but I'm not sure if they are a match.

Any help much appreciated.

Kelly  :)

Kelly,

Another marriage from the IGI and again it's submitted and again I'm able to confirm that they were married by Banns on May 23rd  four months before one of my family was married.  Alas the BT's ( and perhaps PR's) do not give the names of witnesses to the event.  I have no information of the PR's/Banns records, perhaps somebody else can help.

It is interesting to note (at least I find it so) that although the name of K.S.  is Kingstanley I've seen BT's giving Kings Stanley, Stanley Kings and Stanley Regis by different incumbents.

Regards

Chas

Hi Chas,

Thank you, it is helpful to have that confirmed, I can be confident that I have the correct marriage.

I have seen it more often as Kings Stanley, including in the census, so assumed that was correct. A lot of variations there!

Thanks again,

Kelly.

Hi Kelly

I'm looking for Kings Stanley Wood Family information too, but I've hit a wall before the mid 17th century. My ancestors were originally from Kings Stanley (Charles and William Wood), but they went to Frocester and the family continued on there. If you ever come across information pre-1650, please tell me. No matter how hard I dig, I cannot find them.
