Does anyone know if there are any Lovelocks left in Shipton Moyne please?  ???
It's a new family link I have found

not sure what time frame you are asking about.

Do you mean present day - or on the last census 1901?

Hi, like Darcy asked....what time frame are you looking at. I found these on the 1871 census :

John Lovelock   Head   52   Tetbury   Ag Lab.

Thomas   Son   34   Shipton Moyne   Carter.

Charles   Son   26   Shipton Moyne   Coachman.

Elizabeth   Dau   25   Shipton Moyne   Lab ???

William   Son   10   Shipton Moyne   Scholar.


Living in what looks like...Hodges Cottages, Shipton Moyne.



Or came across a Charles Lovelock   Head   55   Shipton Moyne, wife  Bertha   49   Alderton, Wiltshire  +  5  Children, but they were born in Derbyshire, and thats where the family were living for the 1871 census.

Thanks all of you for your interest and replies.  Charles (b.1845) and William, (b 1861),  both came to Derby to work with the Midland Railway Company, but their original big family seemed to disappear after the death of their father, John (b.1811).  Possibly they lived in a tied cottage as John was an agricultural labourer.  I just wondered if there were any Lovelocks living now in the Shipton Moyne area.  I have lots of information to pass on from their arrival in Derby, and Charles still has a surviving granddaughter with an excellent memory, at the age of 93.  Sorry if I seem a bit incompetent at all of this, I'm quite a beginner and do value your help.

this is probably a silly question but have you tried checking for Lovelocks in Shipton Moyne in the telephone directory for the area?

Brilliant to find your message. I am gGrandson of William Arthur LOVELOCK of Shipton Moyne. I am still in Derby. I would be delighted to swap whatever information we can on William and his half brother Charles.

It was great to hear that one of Charles's daughters is still around.
