Hi there,

Couldn't find a William Kirton in Ashwick, but I found the following, both 'base born', ie unmarried mothers, could possibly be your guy, but no proof either way.  There are lots of Kirtons in the parish until about 1790, thereafter none...

27 May 1798 William M Betty HILL bass born
07 Jul 1799 William   M Mary HEALL   bass born

Regards,

Patricia

Thanks Ian...

Looking for Kertons, Keertons, etc I found the following:

26 Sep 1779 William M Joseph Mary KEERTON
04 Jun 1780 William M Thomas Rebecka KERTON
20 Jan 1789 Wm M James Love KERTON
20 Apr *   10 May 1812 William M William Mary KEERTON

They are the only ones who fit into the time frame 10 years or so either side of 1800...

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Patricia

I have some information which I hope you will find interesting.

William Kirton was born on 20 April 1812 in Ashwick.  He married Rosannah Heathcock (b.1797 Halesowen) on 24 Dec 1826 at St Thomas' Dudley.  Yes, she was 15 years older than him, their death registrations at St Peter's Cradley attest to this.  William's parents were William Kerton b.1780 Ashwick and Mary (nee Ferrey).  They married on 13 Dec 1802 in Ashwick.  He had sisters Mary b.1803 and Sarah b.1808.

His grandparents were Thomas Kerton b.1743 Ashwick: ch.24 Feb 1743, died 21 Nov 1781 all Ashwick and Rebecca Harris b.abt 1747, whom he married on 23 Dec 1764 at Ashwick.  His great grandparents were John Kerton b.abt 1717, buried 2 Feb 1794 and Elizabeth - - - - - b.abt 1720.  They married about 1741. All these events were in Ashwick.

Hope this helps.

Hope this

Hi Familyhistoryman,

A huge welcome to RootsChat :)

I am very sorry to say that you have replied to a member who we have lost all contact with  :'( This users emails stopped working a while ago and we have been unable to find an alternative way of contact them.  When this happens we leave a little note underneath the persons username to advice other users.

I am sure that the information will be of great interest to other family researchers and who knows maybe the original poster may eventually find it.

Kind Regards
