I am looking for the birth of Robert H. Stalla iin about 1808 in England [unknown location]. And also his immigration to the United States sometime before 1840. He can be found on the 1840 and 1850 US censuses in Brooklyn, NY and also in the Brooklyn City Directories for those years.
In the 1850 census his age was 42, birth place England., living with his wife Jane [Logan] and children Elizabeth, Mary A., William, Joseph, and Jane.
edited to add: I think his middle name might have been Harvey.

Stalla is not a common surname in England. I have found the following Stallas listed in censuses from 1841-71. I have tried to find parish records for the birthplaces of these people but without success so far. IGI has not helped me either. If anyone has parish records for these places, I’d appreciate a look for the birth of Robert H. Stalla.

Re: George Stalla born Chatham, Kent.c.1813
On- line images (not transcripts) of entries in Parish Registers for the Medway area of Kent, including St. Mary's Chatham1568-1974 can be found by Googling:
Medway Cityark
and then following the Medway Ancestors link, and links on, further down the page, from there to the images.
Hope you find the name somewhere there. There are maps showing where neighbouring parishes are too.

Hi Erato,
Did you see on FindMyPast a marriage between Susan Stalla and Josiah Willings on 28 Sept 1828 at St Andrew the Less, Cambridgeshire? One of the witnesses to the marriage was Harvey Stalla - perhaps one of yours?

Thanks, I hadn't seen that. I don't have a subscription to FindMyPast but will keep this in mind.

I don't know what the problem is with this web site. I found the collection of images for baptisms 1772-1813. I was able to look at the first few images without any trouble [starting in 1813 and working backwards]. But now it just gives me a blank white page for whatever image I click on, including ones that I was able to see earlier. It does the same thing for the collection of baptisms from 1813-1816 .

I've gone back to this site and it's working for me now - it must have been overloaded earlier.
